This subject of painting on walls fascinates me. And although it may sound far-fetched: Street art, of all varieties, which includes graffiti and murals. is, in some way, related to cave paintings. Does our urban art convey the same degree of spirit and mystery found in cave art? Generally not. However, it seems that the desire to paint or leave a mark on a wall of any kind, lies deep within most, or some of us. Perhaps it is a quest for immorality. Will we ever know what the artists who created Lascaux and Chauvet were thinking about? They were responding to their environment...what they saw and what they experienced on a very up-close and intimate level. Perhaps that is the common thread shared with today's street artists. However, Lascaux, Chauvet and many others will have to remain a deep mystery for the ages.

Someone is specializing in linear, geometric paint. It’s showing up a lot, so I’m going to go looking for it. I’ve seen some that have been painted over and then repainted with a new image. So that leads me to believe that the owner of the building is cooperating with this. I guess that puts it more into the category of mural?
